Part 2

“Nothing much. I just patrolled, and watched a lot of TV,” Buffy lied about her summer activities.

“Any real bad baddies this summer?” Willow asked.

“Just random vamps, and a few goal oriented demons with the IQ’s of toasters. Nothing I couldn’t handle,” Buffy answered.

“Is anyone else back yet,” Willow asked.

“Nope, you’re the first. Xander, and Anya will be back in two weeks. My mother is stopping in New York, so she won’t be back till later this week. Giles has been held up indefinitely, because they actually found something, and Riley flies in tomorrow night.”

Willow reached down to grab one of her bags off the ground. Buffy finally noticed the numerous bags, and commented, “Geez Will, bring back all of England with you.”

Buffy threw the shoulder bag over her shoulders, and then picked up the two suitcases.

“I got a little carried away in the present buying department,” Willow answered with a sheepish grin. “I’ll say. Anything for me in there?”

“Of course. I bought stuff for everyone, including Anya,” Willow answered as she wrinkles her nose at the thought of Xander’s ex demon girlfriend. Willow continued, “Giles is going to love this book I bought him on Druid rituals, and legends.”

“Sounds very Giles. I hope you didn’t buy me a book,” Buffy remarked as the girls head out of the airport.

“Of course not. I’ll give you your stuff tonight. I was hoping we could hang out, and catch up,” Willow answered.

“There’s nothing I would love more.”

The girls made their way through the bustling airport, and finally arrived outside. Buffy stopped, and looked around at the expansive parking lot.

“Geez, I hope I remember where I parked,” Buffy muttered.

Willow looked at Buffy curiously. “You drove. As in a car?”

“Yeah,” Buffy answered nonchalantly. “How else do you think I got all the way out to LA to pick you up.”

Buffy started walking towards where she thought she parked, and Willow scurried to catch up.

“I wasn’t sure, but Buffy, you don’t have a license.”

“I do now,” Buffy shouted over her shoulder spotting her mothers car.

“Who taught you how to drive?” Willow asked curiously.

Buffy stopped at the car, and quickly lied, “I took a class.”

“Use one God damn foot, slayer,” Spike shouted from the passenger seat of his Desoto.

He was gripping the dashboard trying not to smash his head against the windshield as Buffy jerked along the road.

“It’s easier to use both,” Buffy protested as she stepped on the accelerator as her other foot was still on the brake.

“You can’t step on both petals at the same bloody time. Use one foot.” Buffy lowered her head to look at her feet, and the car swerved sharply to the right. “Bloody hell,” Spike shouted as he grabbed the steering wheel, and yanked the car to the left narrowly missing a parked car. “Watch the road,” he shouted angrily.

Buffy slammed her foot down on the brake sending Spike hurling forward. His head slammed into the windshield, and then his body fell back into the seat. He rubbed his head where it had struck the window.

“Get out of the car. The lesson is over,” Spike ground out through clenched teeth, as he clutched his fists in his lap trying to control his temper.

“It’s not my fault you’re a bad teacher,” Buffy whined.

“You nearly killed me,” Spike said with narrowed eyes.

“You’re already dead,” Buffy shot back.

Angered, Spike argued, “Well, you almost maimed me for life.”

“You’d heal,” Buffy remarked dismissively.

“Well, your driving sucks,” Spike taunted her. “And you’re going to kill my car.”

“It’s a piece of crap.”

“Oh that’s it,” Spike shouted. “Insult me all you want little lady, but leave my baby out of it.”

“It’s just a car.”

“Just a car she says,” Spike mimicked her. “Well, it’s my car, and I like it not smashed to hell,” he yelled.

“You’d steal a new one,” Buffy calmly argues.

“I didn’t steal this car. Now get your cute little ass out of the drivers seat,” Spike ordered.

“But I wanna drive,” Buffy pouted.

“What you’re doing is not driving.”

“Well, it’s hard to drive in the pitch black you know,” Buffy argued defensively.

“Well, tomorrow we’ll have a lesson during the bright sun filled afternoon. How’s that?” Spike shot back sarcastically.

“You know, maybe if you didn’t yell at me constantly, and actually showed me how, I’d be able to do it,” Buffy shouted in frustration.

“Fine. Get out, and I’ll show you.”

Buffy looked at Spike to see if he was serious. He motioned for her to get out, and Buffy stepped out of the car. Spike slid over to the drivers seat, and moved the seat back. He motioned for her to sit on his lap.

“Have a seat,” he offered.

“What?” Buffy asked confused.

“I’m going to show you how to drive. Now sit,” Spike ordered.

Buffy hesitantly climbed onto his lap, and leaned back against his chest.

“Okay, now put your hands on the steering wheel, and your right foot over the accelerator.” Buffy did as she was told. Spike shifted the car into drive. “Now drive,” he gently ordered.

Buffy hesitantly pushed down on the accelerator, and the car started moving forward. As they approached a stop sign, Buffy tried to step on the brake with her left foot, but Spike had it pinned on the other side of his left leg.

“Use your right foot,” he whispered in her ear.

Buffy lifted her right foot off the accelerator, and pressed down on the brake. The car eased to a stop just behind the white line.

“Now was that so hard,” Spike whispered with a smile on his face.

Buffy smiled to herself as she eased her foot off the brake, and back to the accelerator.
